There and Back Again: A Dancer's Tale

MI & MN Tour

Ballet Emmanuel just got back from our Michigan and Minnesota tour in February. Nearly 4,000 miles and a whole lot of goldfish later, we returned home to Colorado safe and sound!

(Argo Tea Stop, Chicago, IL)

We had a blast working with many studios and churches holding workshops and performing all over! It was great to see students on fire for the Lord and ready to use dance as a way to worship Him.  Can't wait to work with these students again next year!

(Performance @ Cedar Springs High School Auditorium, Cedar Springs, MI)

We performed at many worship services as well as performed many concerts throughout MI and MN. Although it was very cold at times, we were blessed with safe and easy travel. We appreciate all of your prayers and support for this tour!

"I loved seeing how the students we have worked with in the past have grown in their dance ability over the past year." ~Melanie Dexter on teaching workshops

"It is always extra special when you get to tour to your hometown and visit, perform, and teach with friends and family." ~Laci Landry on visiting North Branch

"Teaching is definitely my favorite part of touring. Being able to teach the students I watched grow up was much fun. I was blessed to be able to work with my old studio!" ~Mia Calabrese on teaching at Turning Pointe

"The tour was fabulous! It was great being able to share the story of courage with hundreds of people in Michigan and Minnesota. " ~Erin Benson on the tour as a whole

Touring Part 1

Dancer: Laci

Question: What is Your Favorite Part About Touring?

One of my favorite parts of touring is teaching. I love getting to work with students of all ages (we teach 4 year olds through Adults on tour) and helping them understand how dance can be so much more than steps. It is so amazing to help them see that it is a way to express how you're feeling, it is a way to pray when you don't know what words to say, and it is a way to worship God.

I also love it when we get the opportunity to go back to a place more than once. It is so wonderful to come back each year and see how they have improved and grown, not only as dancers, but also as girls and young women.

Dancer: Melanie

Question: What is Your Favorite Part About Touring?

I always enjoy performing while we're on tour!  We are blessed to have the opportunity to dance for a wide range of audiences, from seniors to little kids to college students; it's always exciting to share my love for dance and God with our audiences.

Many of the people we perform for have never seen live ballet, let alone a Christian ballet company, so it's very fun to have the privilege of sharing Christian dance with them for the first time.  May God always be glorified through our dancing!
